i know i often say that shams' original district is based on iran and that there are multiple races inspired by said area, but when it comes to the athyans and where shams grew up, i would say that they are heavily inspired by the lurs and their tribes (bakhtiari lurs in shams' case). there are obviously distinct differences between both, but it's said that tribal elders hold a strong authority in the main region and lur women have much greater freedom than women in other groups within the region. they have more freedom to participate in different social activities. traditionally lur-i-kuchek (modern provinces of luristan and ilam) comprised the entire belt of mountainous region. the entire area came under the control of a local dynasty and they maintained a semi - independent dynasty and paid tribute only when the supreme rulers of iran were strong enough to collect tribute by force and those are factors that stayed when it comes to the district and those are things that can be translated in her world

i like to think about this often because it parallels with the way shams grew up (her father teaching both her and her brother ways of battle, her having much more artistic freedom than the rest of her district's women and femme presenting people) and how her district viewed it when her father became king, simply because the main area has a large number of people who view certain groups of reera as "lesser". and shams' family was exactly that. when she first stepped into the role, the interactions started with her own people (alongside the zherkari who reside east of her district) because the support was already there due to how they already accepted her role as the sar - tāj (the chief’s due, the person who will follow in the elder's footsteps) and then she had to move onto the rest of the area

#i was gonna do a clothing study for her which is why i'm thinking about this lmao #but culturally wise i'd say there is also a distinct difference #the main area of her district has been inspired by all the influences of other nations and districts but #the tribes always kept their traditions and that can be seen in the way they dress and the music #so when she moved over to her new role she had to find a balance btw both #this is esp noticeable in the way she dresses bc it's a mix of the main area and her own tribe #and then in her own time she still wears her tribe's traditional wear #this makes no sense since i need to update her bio but yeah . thinking thoughts #anyway . enough rambling about history i'll write a proper post about this soon #BUT YEAHHHHH

Fields of mistria has been super fun, and has super charming art, writing and characters, so I’ve been having a blast.

March is probably one of my favourites so far so I drew him with my farmer…

I wonder if the show will treat an absence of romance as equivalent or at least comparable to a competing romance in reintegration. Like just to use the woman as an example, yeah Ms Casey is friends with Mark S kind of but she does not like him like that and she does not know Scoutie at all.

Is that not to some extent a conflict similar to Mark S loving someone other than Gemma? It’s maybe not as dramatic but it’s something I hope they address, ig. Like, just because you happened to be single before you reintegrated doesn’t mean you suddenly are going to totally be on board with whatever your outie was up to.

Something something bodily autonomy and being single does not equal open season! You don’t need someone to have a competing claim on you for you to be able to reject someone or stay single!! Idk!!!
