also it becomes funny because persephone's basis is that she is life and warmth and spring. the sundering was the pomegranate, a 'loss of innocence' using Hades ( the actual god and concept of death, not FFXIV Hades to be clear ) in-myth as a metaphor for a young woman losing her life and her mother grieving her. hikari is the death part, ie what comes after. does this make sense.
since a lot of mutuals really liked this post i get to divulge the fact that ZENOS is more of the Hades to Hikari's Persephone than Hades himself is. Stabbing her with his katana and slitting her throat in front of her mother, yet in a subversion death not taking her regardless. in the expansion with themes about violence against women. am i cooking here.
hikari is so delightfully cringe when you look past the trauma shell bc she literally admits that she wears her hair like that bc she thinks it adds +3 to her coolness modifier when it just makes her look emo.
surprisingly, 20/20. She strictly wears the bang over her eye not just because that's just how her hair tends to fall, but because she thinks it looks nice and makes her look tough. She may struggle a bit with depth perception given the fuckin full lock of hair in front of her eye, though.
When she gets older ( 40s, 50s ) she starts wearing glasses as her eyesight gets strained.
