okay i’m going to say something controversial and it might not even be coherent because i’m having Emotions but here it is.

juke aren’t soulmates.

soulmates are people who are meant to be together, people who might have struggles, but everything falls into place and brings them together.

they have to fight for it. they choose each other again and again no matter what life or death throws at them, even if one of them is a ghost and the other is painfully human. they have meaning, things don’t fall into place and bring them together. they have to fight against the current to be with each other, and i don’t know about you, but i think that makes it so much stronger.

thinking of beau laughing about jester's name because of course I am and I'm thinking: a) it could be a callback to genevieve and oskar in tusk love but was unfortunately miscommunicated

but I can't stop thinking of b) the possibility that beau was slightly jealous that jester got to choose a name for herself that echoed who jester wanted to be, unlike beau who was named for all the things her father wanted and believed her to be

which then makes me think of c) the poetic cinema that is - jester trying not to break down under the expectations she placed upon herself with the name "jester" vs. beau struggling to break free from the belief and expectations that made her father choose to name her "beauregard"
