Hey, how’s life treating you?
Okay so here’s the thing. It’s been a stupid week. Like just all the s*** that makes you go seriously? Okay we’re doing that now are we life? And it’s not even stuff that I feel like I can complain about, you know? Because it’s not actually happened to us. Everyone around us seems to be having life crap on them in awful ways and Mr KDNFB and I have somehow wound up covering all kinds of responsibilities. It could obviously be worse. Yet it’s also still stressful, you know?
Okay that was super vague. So here’s something more immediate and an example of how the smallest thing can just be what makes you AGH! ENOUGH! So the way our system at the library is set up, you can get emails, text messages, or phone calls when a book you placed on hold is available. Most people go with email or text because they’re automatic as in the second I scan your book to check it in to the library BOOM! Your book is ready message. But there are a few people who like to get phone calls still. On a normal day, when we process the holds, there might be two who get phone calls. On a bad day, four or five. Now I say bad day because I’m an introvert. So bad. Like I can do the smile and chatty and personable thing for a few minutes at a time, especially as part of my job, but at the end of a shift, I am TIRED. Hiss hisss get away from me!!! Okay so today... today there were ELEVEN PEOPLE NEEDING PHONE CALLS TO BE TOLD THEIR BOOK HAD ARRIVED.
Let me say that again. I had to make ELEVEN phone calls today.
Needless to say, when I was done, I hid in the back room and cataloged a bunch of new books. No people. Just coffee, music, me, and books.
Ah. Also you all should know there is a book with the title “Your Brain Needs a Hug.” I haven’t cataloged it yet so I don’t know what it’s about exactly but I literally just kept showing it to the other staff members and making them laugh. So there you go.
Oh and there’s also this:
Our April order with the publishers. Iiieeeeeeeee.
And that is probably way more information than you bargained for. How are you this fine Friday?
