Sherlock Holmes iterations are big in Japan. To add to this bourgeoning number is Oshiri tantei Yamiyo ni kieru kyojin (Butt Detective), which will be released in German-speaking countries next month. I already asked an acquaintance, who owns a book shop to make a reservation for me. In German it is called “Detektiv Parzival Po.” Po is a German slang for buttocks. Allegedly, the Japanese children love “Oshiri tantei” the way the Austrian toddlers love “Paw Patrol.” I laughed the first time I found out about this series. It is so crude, yet so laughably nasty. There’s even an anime already featuring the mysterious Shiriarty.

Troll is the pseudonym of a writer/artist group. Nana Umino, who studied Psychology at the Uni Wien, translated the books.

If a German author successfully wrote a book about a small mole that wanted to know who placed a poop on top off its head, the kids would probably like it too. I don’t see why not?
