Fingers Through Your Hair
Sif stirred awake to the pleasant feeling of hands in her hair to see Thor above her.
"Did I fall asleep?" She mumbled, she was just so comfortable.
"Fire is always your first answer. I am starting to think you have no other ideas."
"And hitting things with your hammer is always yours! It just so happens arson is most suited to the task at the moment, and my plans work. I am starting to think you are jealous."
"Tis stupid and you know it."
"You always say that when I include fire in the strategy. it's effective, it's fine."
"I get that you wanted to come up with the plan, but your plan is stupid."
"Nay, Thor, 'tis brilliant!"
Reborn
The last thing she remembered... or was it the first? So much darkness and pain, it all got muddled up a bit somewhere along the way. When she was awake she could usually make more sense of it, had she been awake at all?
She remembered staring into eyes that looked like her own but were so different. She remembered fighting in blood, one-armed and full of rage, she remembered slow agonizing pain and aches in her bones, she remembered a void and a shrill beeping that repeated through it all.
But she remembered those eyes, and the cruel laughter that filled them, they haunted her. Even now she dreaded to open her eyes, fearing to see them above her once more, she would rather remain in the consuming darkness. Only, the darkness was not so consuming as it had been so recently. The bones did not ache nor was she so cold.
Something had changed, and the woman who was just barely beginning to recall her own name from the fog found herself worn, but not so weak as before. In fact, there was just enough life in her to feel her eyes.
She had barely opened them a crack and the light of the room was blinding, the urge to shut them and drift back into the oblivion was great, but she did not retreat. No, best to face the monster in the eyes, suffer the ordeal once more, he'd only enjoy it more if she hid.
He. Now she remembered who it was.
But he wasn't there. No cruel visage loomed over her, mockingly combing her hair. She was confused. He wasn't there, but she wasn't alone either.
She slowly let her head fall to the side, the hospital room that had been her cell was occupied by a figure she could only remember in vague dreams, until now.
Her voice, a hoarse whisper, broke the silence of humming machines, "Thor?"
Thor sat beside her, on the edge of the bed. A blatant smile on his face while she nursed her water and saltine crackers - he go to cure for the flu she was convinced she had. "—You're not ill, Jane." He'd mulled over whether or not to tell her his suspicions for a week, it was time. - butterofpeanuts
Jane slouched at the table, a cracker in one hand, a bottle of water in the other, the hand with the cracker actually resting against her upset stomach.
She raised her eyes to his, a worried frown on her face, "You think that thai food was bad last night? I thought that chicken had a weird taste..."
"I'm in a rare good mood, don't ruin it."
