I can understand that perspective. I do know that I remember being a kid and seeing things on US National Women's Team and how good they were and being very proud. I wanted to play soccer after that, (yeah, said it. SOCCER.) but I'm allergic to fresh cut grass and that's kind of a thing, so I never got to play. :C I will say that the US Women's National Soccer team ranked #1 by Fifa in the world that makes me very happy. :) German is right behind them. Commercialism and corruption though, eww.
Yay, go US gals!
Believe it or not, I myself played football when I was a kid. But only because I loved the anime Ganbare, Kickers! XD And I was more interested in the stories than the game. I can understand people enjoying it, that's what games and sports are for, but the entire HUGE hype around it is just beyond me. Either you win and feel superior to every other nation, as if being [insert nationality here] makes you a super race (even though most team members were bought from other countries) or you lose and make it feel like a nation-wide failure. It's a bunch of dudes running to and fro, people. It's not a war our fate is depending on.
On a related note, I wanted to add a more comedic approach to sports in general.
