Race update!
I haven't done one of these in a long time, mostly because I've felt disappointed and embarrassed with my racing performances. But I am really proud of my team's accomplishment in the DMR yesterday! We ran 12:11 on a flat track which converts to a 12:03. This time is a provisional time for the national meet AND currently sits number 2 in the country (although not many teams have ran it yet lol enjoying this while we can). I ran the mile leg, I got the baton in first but within the first lap, another girl had immediately caught up to me. Three laps in I let her pass me, and ran behind her until the last 400 meters where I finished with a 73 second kick, allowing us to win by 10 seconds! My split for the relay was a 5:06, 6 seconds faster than what I ran the open mile in last weekend! I don't mean to sound like I am bragging or anything because I know this isn't any insanely fast time or anything, but this is the first time since last winter that I have felt good and proud about a race that I ran and I just wanted to share! Now I have the 3k this evening. Good luck to all others who are racing this weekend!
While I sat around after the race thinking about how unhappy I was, a friend got me thinking about all the things to be happy about. 1. I’ve been healthy for the longest time now since I started college. 2. I placed 41 places higher this year than my freshman year at PSACs. 3. I still have so much to give physically these next two weeks. There’s so much to be thankful for if you take a step back and look at the big picture.
