Le ravitaillement en mer par des sous-marins allemands permettait de s’affranchir des ravitaillements à terre trop lointains pour patrouiller longuement la zone de la mer de Barents et de la mer de Kara pour détecter les navires soviétiques et les couler. Ici, l’opération de ravitaillement pour survoler le Svalbard, archipel norvégien en mer de Barents.
Blohm & Voss BV 138MS (Minensuch/mine clearing) being lowered into, or hoisted out of the water, location and date unknown. A few BV 138C-1 Seedrache (Sea Dragon) were converted to minesweepers in 1942/43, the self defence armament was removed and a degaussing device, a hoop with the same diameter as the length of the fuselage and magnetic field-generating equipment, was fitted. Blohm & Voss BV 138 Seedrache (Sea Dragon) flying boat rendezvousing with a U-Boat, 1943. Even though the official name was Seedrache, it was more often called Der Fliegende Holzschuh (The Flying Clog). The BV 138 had an excellent service record and because it had diesel engines, it could transfer fuel from U-Boats to extend its range. For more, see my Facebook group - Eagles Of The Reich
