La 79e Division blindée britannique était équipée de véhicules modifiés et spécialisés dans diverses tâches du génie militaire contre les défenses côtières et maritimes en Normandie. Ces véhicules étaient surnommés les Hobart’s Funnies du nom de leur concepteur, le Major Général Sir Percy Hobart qui était également le Commandant de cette unité.
