When you prepare for and expect the worst and still come away disappointed, you know they are doing something wrong. That’s how I felt about the lack of anything in the S4 finale. Hopefully they remedy that next season. I also really like your season mirror theory. I can only hope they are that clever.
Yeah, me too! ;) I don’t know if any of that was intentional, and it’s possible it wasn’t. But it’s there all the same. A lot of times, writers put a lot of profound things into their work by accident.
I was super disappointed by the finale, because we ended with them having yet another unfinished conversation that we desperately needed to happen. And they teased the first half of the conversation! What were they thinking?
But like, I have said this a million times and I will say it again: all I want is for them to be handcuffed together and find out they don’t really mind it that much. Maybe on an alien ship where they have to fight their way out??? It can work. But we really, really need them to come back together and actually be together. That’s the structure they set up, intentionally or not, and it’s up to them to finish it and bring us to a satisfying conclusion.

This would be torture and I could absolutely see them doing this. Why show two people who love each other working together and sharing their lives when they can be separated or at odds? I can see them giving Jemma another love interest too while absolutely no one even side eyes Fitz. Don't mind me, I will just wallow in my salt mine.
TOO MUCH SODIUM. I HAVE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR ME. Like, IDC who looks at Fitz because “BUt JEMMA...” his love for her will never fade. (♡⌣♡)ﾉ*:・ﾟ✧. and if anyone looks at Jemma well, whatever because Leopold James Fitz is a good man and she loves him. (ಥ◡ಥ) BUT If Fitz or Jemma so much as LOOK at another character with the wrong kind of look in their eyes, it will be the most OOC thing I have ever seen.
But basically.... Yeah. Instead of trying to simply UP the stakes, they need to change the type of drama they create. We’re already invested in Fitzsimmons. They can’t keep tearing them apart. We just want to see them together. Having victories relying on each other. Winning. Sharing pride and admiration. Not just during the off season.
Honestly, I think this arc would have been better received if fitzsimmons had been more naturally touchy-feely early on in their relationship (instead of the writers just checking boxes on their to-do list and then dropping it) or if they had been given more time together in 4A (although don’t get me wrong I loved Boss Lady Jemma and even Old School Science Fitz)
It’s like a recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies. Even though everything else is really important for the cookies to be made the right way, the chocolate chips are the part you want to really focus on when you eat them. You need more then just a few chocolate chips. They may only be one ingredient, but it affects the flavor, the texture, the enjoyability of the whole thing... Fitzsimmons and the other ships are the chocolate chips. Not the optional nuts that no one wants in their cookies.

dude i caved soooo fast like mad respect to you cause i couldn't resist
soooo yeah my self control is actually weaker than my upper body strength and believe me when I say that is pretty weak.
i just have a stronger fear of finding the episode uninteresting or predictable. Because I like getting my guts punched repeatedly... apparently.
