“Ollie!” She looked pleasantly surprised to find him waiting outside of her apartment. The smile that he brought on her face was always genuine, but something about him was.. off. “Ollie?” Her questioning tone was filled with uncertainty. Was he upset? Dinah had never seen Oliver upset. Not even a little. There were times when he seemed to be in a whole other world in his mind, most especially during times of intimacy. Which was only natural, right? 

Oh. Wait. She had forgotten about the man that stepped off the elevator with her. A sight that clearly gave Oliver the wrong impression. 

They were supposed to have dinner after all, but a security threat was at large at the courthouse. She cancelled her plans with Oliver that night due to the unforeseen circumstances. While Oliver was under the impression that she only cancelled because she honestly didn’t know what time she would be back home, the sight of the other man caused a bit of uncertainty. Since allowing Oliver into her life, she was becoming more trusting of others. Including the agent who was merely escorting her safely back.

Speaking of Oliver, he seemed to be making his way in a beeline towards the elevators himself, causing Dinah to react so fast, it even surprised her how fast she stopped him with a firm grip on his arm. “Oliver, this is Special Agent Winchester - we had a problem back at the courthouse today. He thought it would be a good idea escort me back here tonight, and I didn’t feel all that comfortable to come back alone.“

Speaking of not feeling comfortable, she definitely wasn’t blind to how uncomfortable the tension was between the men, almost as though they knew each other. Someway, somehow. It didn’t seem all that friendly, either. “Well, I think the coast looks clear from up here. Thank you, Dean.” The agent didn’t seem all that pleased to be dismissed just like that, causing Dinah’s kind smile to falter, before he bid them both a pleasant night as he took his leave.

What a day.

And she really hoped it wasn’t about to get any worse. She didn’t let Oliver go from her grasp until it was just them in the hallway, shyly making eye contact with him. “I swear, Oliver. I didn’t cancel our dinner plans on purpose. You have to believe me.”
