Heart Stain (2025)
Woohyeon (Kim Ji O) has a crush on his homeroom teacher, Mr. Nam (Kang Yeon Jae), but he intends to keep those feelings to himself until graduation. When Woohyeon's best friend, Doha (BXB's Hamin), finds out about his feelings, he gives Woohyeon an interesting proposal: let's date until graduation. Will Doha be able to win Woohyeon over?
I started this drama exclusively to support BXB's Hamin. I could tell even from the teaser images that this was going to be low budget, as many of the KBLs are. However, KBLs have soooo much potential, and when done well, are phenomenal. Even bad KBLs have their charm. So I was determined to watch this in it's entirety.
The first episode was giving "high school play". It was not great, not gonna lie. But suddenly, between episodes 1 and 2, it's like they had the acting workshop. The acting went up 100x and so did the chemistry. It became a charming little KBL.
By the end? Damn I was invested. Woohyeon is very relatable. Who didn't have a crush on a teacher? Who hasn't hesitated to confess their feelings for fear the other person doesn't like you back? His friendship with Sori is so cute. The sibling vibes are immaculate. Honestly? I wanted more.
Overall: 6.5/10
Hilarious relatable friendships? 10/10
Chemistry? 🔥🔥
Watching two cuties become closer and closer? 8/10 would do again 💗😍
Relatable coming of age drama? 10/10
Started Heart Stain, and episode 1 was giving web drama: high school play level acting, chemistry between Doha and Woohyeon good in some scenes and meh in others. All in all, it charmed me enough to watch episode 2.
But episode 2? SO MUCH BETTER. It's like they filmed episode 1 pre-workshop and episode 2 post-workshop. I mean, this ain't no The Eighth Sense, but the chemistry is chemistry-ing, the acting is so much more natural. I'm invested
