There were no 1-ups this time, no magical forces that could bring him back from beyond the grave.. Luigi was dead, permanently this time.
It was too much for him to handle, the fire- combined with the giant spiked bombs King Boo hurled at him was obviously not only dangerous but also deadly. There was no possible way he’d survive. The deceased Mario Brother could recall his final moments. Weak, pathetic, just like the ghosts all over the mansion had said time and time again... they were right.
His bleeding body had sheltered behind a pillar. The Ghostly Monarch laughing chaotically about him. Knowing he had the plumber pinned. The last explosion had ended his life. Blowing him into two pieces, and bleeding out on the platform shortly after. The King grinning with malice and pure hatred all the while. However, not all was lost. Luigi’s spirit manifested some time after dying. He was still terrified. Questions racing around in his head. Having not the slightest clue as to what would be the best decision to make.
While Boo was preoccupied with his triumph, the green-clad ghost burst from the portrait where the fight had begun. Fleeing into the mansion that he would soon find out will be his eternal resting place.
See, Luigi had been so caught up in his fear, anger and pain- that he hadn’t fully realized the events taken place. Denying, refusing to believe he...
‘Don’t think about it...’ He hissed to himself mentally.
Ironically, it didn’t take him long to become aware - at least partially. This fact didn’t make him feel any better about it. Luigi didn’t want to be here, all he desired was to be home with his sibling. Away from all this. To be living!
It had only been a day, the green poltergeist was sure that King Boo was most likely gloating to his subjects on the fall of the cry-baby Italian. Just for safety measures, Luigi attempted to conceal himself and avoid any and all contact with other ghosts. Most likely due to his shy, meek personality- it wouldn’t be surprising it didn’t take long for him to figure out how to melt into invisibility. He’d also hide in closets and chests whenever those dreaded candles floated on by.
Now? The plumber roamed the halls, tired, lost, a number of conditions along those lines. Sadness along with shame and guilt chewed away at his soul.
Failure, you are a FAILURE. YOU LET YOUR BROTHER TURN INTO A PORTRAIT, BAWLING IDIOT.
Making a foolish and fruitless try at calming down. Luigi tried to lean against the wall, to just sit for a moment. Except, he kept forgetting that he was nothing but a manifestation- he hadn’t yet learned of how to solidify himself to the point of touching other objects including walls and floors. So he just fell right through. Into the Ballroom..
