Whumper lay stunned. They could see Caretaker start to undo the straps from the bed that Whumpee was restrained to. They could see their whole interaction, hear it. But they couldn't move. Caretaker had hit them too hard.
"Darling, darling, I'm here, it's ok," Caretaker murmured soothingly to a hysterically crying Whumpee. "Does it hurt anywhere?"
"N-n-no," Whumpee sobbed. "Just bruised. And...and...and," Whumpee dissolved into further tears, no words coming to them.
"It's ok, it's ok, I've got you, love. I've got you." Caretaker scooped Whumpee into their arms and carried them out in a bridal carry. Caretaker kissed the top of Whumpee's head. "You're safe now."
Whumpee clutched Caretaker's neck like it was their only tether in this world. And all the while Whumper watched. They realized how much they wanted Whumpee to clutch their neck, to want their comfort. Sure, they had tried to force Whumpee to enjoy their touch, their caresses, but this. This was different. And this was what they wanted. And they would do anything to make it happen.
