Speedran a Songxuexiao paper standee from one of my works.

I split up the original artwork in a separate document, and then shrank the sizes down for printing on the cardstock (which I chose a light orange for the tree and songxuexiao, and then a light blue for the grass and background).

I cut off a flap from a random cardboard box and used a box cutter to make a slit for the background to slide into. And then it was just a matter of cutting the other stuff out. My hand hurts lol.

Announcing the weekly prompts for this year's event! The theme: the cycle of the day (and night).

My most favorite kind of #songxuexiao fanfics is where they a) witness his pain, b) acknowledge it's value to him, impact on him, c) recognize his violence as a method to alleviate emotional pain, d) accept him - not so much despite that response of his, but almost because of it - with an understanding that "you're only doing this because nobody taught you - and helped you practice - better, so we're gonna teach you and help you practice". I've seen this tagged as "Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen invent rehabilitative justice". Because for sure there are non-violent methods to process your Hard Feelings about Betrayal, and Injustice, and so much other garbage that human interactions can be - yet they are all viewed negatively ("weak", "unproductive", "dependent", etc.) and are not promoted/taught/valued by society at large (part d on the list above). At most, you'll get a directive to "suck it up, that's just life" - but how much do you "suck up" before you choke? This doesn't at all heal the emotional damage, and "cumulative trauma" does exist, too. And I am So Very Tired of emotional pain being dismissed as "you're too sensitive" (that's not a persmission to hurt me), "its all in your head" (and the colorectal cancer is up your ass, what's your point?), "just change your outlook" (this will not change the past circumstances which had hurt me very badly; nor do I want to pretend that my boundaries are non-existent). (part b on the list above) And I don't want to ignore the Part C from that list: your past actions may or may not determine your future, and if you choose to stop the actions of yours which are harmful (to you/others) and if you manage to get plenty of support in establishing - and maintaining - new habits and patterns of behaviour which are less harmful but equally (or more) productive, then you can still build yourself a life you enjoy, without harming others.

So Xue Yang had been wrong about who would have been worth to beg for clemency.

“If you’re sure.”

Xiao Xingchen didn’t answer.
