i forgot to close my window

it's night and i forgot to close my window because i had a wasp in my room and i was trying to get it to fly out and the yellow light

it's daylight

it's flooding my room and the window is open and i can hear them scratching up the side of the house

i'm hiding behind in my closet

looking through the cracks

there are so many faces stretched oblong with pale gray skin pulled around tight eyes and nostrils

a blue tongue licks its lips and it's reaching with spiny fingertips under the lip of the window and they knocked that dumb alien mcdonald's toy onto the floor and i can't bring myself to get up and slam it closed.
