"i can't let you do that," alice stepped in front of him with a warning look. "i understand that you want to help, but," alice was feeling the same thing. she was supposed to be on crowd control, keeping things calm so that the agents that were allowed to be in the field could do their real work. she wanted to be doing more too. she wanted to be on the front lines, not telling people to stay behind the barrier they'd set up. "it's too dangerous. the professionals have it handled." she wanted so badly to glance over her shoulder and see if she could get a glimpse of the goings on inside, but she had to keep her back to the action unless she got radio'd that the action was coming to her.

it's not her first homicide, involving a fire. the added element of her crime scene being absolutely destroyed however, never made it easier to solve. the fire destroyed a lot of evidence. it skewed their timeline. knew lanie tried as good as she could, but the window of time was big for when the murder could have happened. unless someone came forward, saying they heard a gunshot sometime late last night or early this morning. and the fire could have been set hours later. grabbed the water bottle from the kitchen and there's a small smile as she walks into the conferance room, closing the door behind her so they can talk undisturbed. " thank you, for taking the time coming down here, " putting the bottle down infront of him, she sits down across the table, laying out the file infront of herself. " i'll ask a few questions, and if there is anything you'd like to add, i'd really appreciate it. no detail is too small, "

she sat in the locker room, meticulously rubbing ointment on the scar from her surgery. it was a long time ago, but occasionally she'd get a little pain in that leg and she'd convince herself the wound would open up and the stability she'd gained since then would all come crashing down on her. the scar ointment helped remind her that it was healed and shut tight and all of that was just a nightmare. "i know," she set the ointment aside and looked over at reese, biting her lip to keep it from trembling. "do you think this is what i was meant to do?"

alice didn't often find herself in anything someone might even refer to as a bar. she'd been working up to this, and she still kind of was. she'd been watching the dance floor from their table and trying to make sense of the fancy footwork the line dancers were doing. she was a dancer, she had spent her childhood doing dance, but her comfort had seeped away. but watching people dance was slowly helping it come back. and when dean stood and held out a hand to her, she was ready to see what came of it. "yes, you may," alice smiled reaching out to take dean's hand. "might take me a sec to get the hang of it though."

there's a soft smile that rests on his lips, as it always does around @byjorbs, but his eyes slightly squint: a physical representation of him focusing his flashlight onto the messy truth she was trying to hide behind sparkly almond eyes and trademark bubbliness.

"we do, don't we?" beatrice chuckled. they were absolutely covered in flour and a little bit sticky from the jam filling, but they'd had fun making the cookies from one of freya's old recipes hadn't they? they had enough to feed a small army because it had been the two of them baking, rolling and spreading the filling. she started toward the oven to pull out what she thought was the last batch of cookies from the oven when she saw a plastic wrapped lump of dough on the counter. bea looked at it for a second and groaned, "think we should deal with this now or put it in the freezer for later?" it seemed like enough for one more batch of cookies. one more batch of rolling and filling and waiting.

for once, they work the same shift. which hasn't happened in weeks, their schedules barely lining up so they get to see each other outside the few meetings between shifts. and the ER is busy. it's not a lot of time to sit down, really catch up with one another. now however, trinity sits by one of the computers, and she knows another trauma is bound to come in, but a few minutes is good. decompress a little. " soo, i have something with your name on it, " okay, not literally, but like . . . well, she thought of her when buying it, because it's her favorite, so it kinda does. hip leaning on the desk she is sitting at, she fish up a bar from one of her pockets, handing it over. there's a smile upon features, looking down at her and head tip to the side. " honestly, how do you even survive here without me ? "
