Surprise Christmas tree decorating at Byker Community Centre. That's the way we roll in Byker in mid-January once Lidl and others throw away their Christmas stock. A lot of food waste gets saved in this place. We much prefer to eat it than see it buried or burned. And there are a lot of poor people on the estate too. The food waste project makes life a little easier. If you're in Byker, visit the community centre. It'll be worth it.
