From 2002...The Mucha Lucha! 'Build Your Own Wrestler'

Viewers who picked up on the series in later years might be confused as to who those random luchadores present in the main title of season #1 were.

It was part of an online contest from Kids'WB. Viewers could build their own luchador courtesy of a Flash game created by Lili Chin and myself, and expertly designed and action-scripted by Lili.

Here's a step through (apologies for the missing fonts, which I don't have on my computer any more).

Ironically, this was a copy of the 'Create The Ultimate Rudo' game we previously created as a pre-loader for our Rudo By Night web series: Back in the day, even Flash files took an age to load on dial-up modems, so every web cartoon had a quick preloader (usually a game) to keep the viewer occupied while an episode loaded!

Some backstory: Back in the late 1990s, Flash animation was the hot thing on the internet. But although the files were small by today's standards, the majority of internet uses only had dial-up modems and any animation took an AGE to download. The solution: an interactive game using Flash's action scripting which allowed you to while away the minutes while the animated movie loaded!

We came up with the BYOW idea for our first internet series 'Rudo By Night'. WB appropriated this, and under their instructions we designed and developed a version for the Kids'WB website. Believe it or not, I still have this working version...
