Two byres and a bath house

Images 1 and 2 are the byres. Image 3 is, as we were told by a passing dog walker, a bath house built originally for the use of farm workers. In the three years since we moved down here, we've had questions about this building...now we know the answer:)

Old byres…

Here's some more experimentation with filters in a bid to create a poignant feeling of nostalgia, tinged with a vague sense of unease. A Lomo filter was applied, followed by some sepia toning.

Could spring…actually be here?

These images were shot on a walk from Keynsham up to Bitton and back. It was one of those sun out, sun in kind of days as the clouds came and went, which made for a bit of a challenge when it came to shooting images. Despite the breeze, it really did feel like spring is finally on her way:)

Two byres and a barn

I'm fairly certain none of these are in active use, even though the fields and meadows surrounding them are still grazed and cut for silage. I would hate to see these old structures disappear. Scruffy and unkempt they may be but, they're a part of the farming heritage of the countryside around where I live.

Byres and barns

These two byres and the barn are all adjacent to each other and, when I'm walking up this way, I always make a point of stopping to take some photographs of them. I'm pretty certain none of them are in use at the moment.

Abandoned farm buildings

Nothing ever stays as it is… That's as true of the countryside as it is of the suburban and urban environment. Hence the number of abandoned farm buildings and other structures in the countryside surrounding where I live. There's a certain poignancy to these buildings. I applied a lomo filter during the processing of these images to enhance that sense of poignancy. Yes, it's another somewhat moody image…that's how I'm rolling at the moment…
