I fail to see globalism there.

I may not have quite as sharp an eye for certain themes in movies, and while they could be picked from this one, I really think del Toro is trying to tell an honest, uplifting story about heroism removed from politics, and I think he’s said as much too.

that's the beauty of story-telling and the politics of human relationships. if you're able to tell a real enough story, the politics come naturally. these themes go beyond buzzwords like "globalism," they're really just being interpreted through a modern lens.
