I was talking about today’s lore with some of my friends and they reminded me that Ghostbur can see everything being said about him in limbo. He can see all the good things Tubbo said about him today but he would also see all of the bad things Wilbur said about him.
You think he’s sitting alone in the train station crying because he misses Tubbo? You think he misses the country he helped rebuild, that his former self cared so passionately for, that he was forced to watch his dad destroy? Do you think he misses the kid who was like a baby brother to him, forced to watch him helplessly as he got murdered? You think he misses feeling happy? The train station doesn’t have enough blue for him to hide away his problems this time.
Also just for fun, analysis time. One of the things c!Wilbur hates is being alone. He always seems to be around someone. I talked more about this a little earlier, but he always latches on to someone or something. He wants to feel like he belongs, he’s a part of something and that people need him. Ghostbur is just an extension of Wilbur at his core, how do you think he’s handling that? Being forced to be completely alone for years, having no purpose and nothing to care about? None of that community he craves so much?
On the note of Wilbur and Ghostbur comparisons let’s talk about emotions. Now it’s well known and clear that Ghostbur does not like to talk about sad memories, he changes the conversation, he avoids them, he takes blue and tries to forget everything bad. We all love and support him, I haven’t seen anyone who didn’t like Ghostbur. Yet Wilbur did the EXACT same thing today with Tubbo. Like I’m not going to go find the exact moments I’m looking for but like. Remember in Tommy’s exile when Tommy would try to talk to Ghostbur about stuff that happened before with Wilbur and he would just always shut him down? And this is a stretch because this is not how I interpreted this scene but I’ve seen a lot of people talk about Wilbur “shutting down” Tubbo today. First of all, he did NOT shut down Tubbo. He was so overwhelmed with emotion that he cut him off to make sure he knew that he was proud. I do not see it as him trying to be a prick and I’ve seen lots of wonderful explanations that do that even more justice than I could. What I’m trying to say is that they do the SAME THING. They both struggle with emotion, either their own or that of other people. They both don’t enjoy being in emotional situations because it makes them uncomfortable and they shut down. So if you’re someone who’s mad at Wilbur today, just keep in mind that this isn’t about him trying to shut other people down, it’s about his inability to handle and express emotion.
And poor Ghostbur. He lost so much. Like. Everything Ghostbur really did died with him. Logsted got blown up, Friend is dead, New L’manberg was destroyed and all of his records are burned. Most of the traces that he ever existed on the server are just. Gone.
He just wanted to make them all happy. And so did Wilbur. He talked today about how it would be hard, but it would be worth it to see them smile again. He cares SO MUCH he is so special to me.
