“Y’know, kid. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you missed me.” Dominic grinned at the younger woman from across the table, and slid her basket of fries towards him without a thought. “You can just call me, you know. You don’t have to go through all this subterfuge just to get my attention.” His grin only grew as he popped a fry into his mouth and chewed, amused, beyond a doubt, that she’d sent him the message in the first place. He’d known her for a few years by this point, her and her brothers, and had helped them a time or two, but he never got over how co-dependent they all were. And how broken. Dom supposed he’d gotten the nice end of the deal, being an only child, but he did wonder how different his life would’ve been if he’d had a sibling to share the horror of his father with. “You just had to say, ‘hey, there’s fries’.”
