Baylen had a hard life growing up; however, she was super thankful to have her best friend, Patrick, in her life. He kept her sane through the tough times and was there for her when no one else was. Their close relationship had been a bit strained due to college, but they were still friends and she knew that she could count on him if things took a wrong turn in her life. The female had been in an abusive relationship for a few years now, but she was too scared to leave him in fear that if she even tried, she would be the next murder case in their small, quaint town. She would wake up in fear as she didn’t want to set her boyfriend off, so she was constantly walking on eggshells hoping that she could get through the day without making him mad. This particular night had started off wrong from the very beginning as Baylen had expressed her feelings on him constantly coming home drunk which enraged her boyfriend. Don’t you fucking dare bring up my drinking, Baylen. That’s none of your damn business. I can do whatever the fuck I please, and you must have lost your damn mind if you think your opinion matters! The female tried to keep herself together as best as she could, but this happened every time. She was scared of what he would do to her if she spoke up, but she couldn’t keep her mouth shut anymore. Baylen loved him and if he continued drinking the way he did, he would drink himself into the grave. “Baby, please. I’m just worried about you. You’ve came home drunk three times this week. I just, I just think it needs to stop. Please,” she said softly as if not to piss him off, but her soft tone hadn’t worked as she hoped it would. The next few minutes were a blur to Baylen as it all happened so fast, but the pain that ran rampant throughout her entirety was proof enough that what she had just went through was real. Her boyfriend had hit her in the jaw in a fit of rage before wrapping his hand around her throat where he pinned her against the wall, threatening her that if she ever spoke to him like that again, she would be sorry.
Tears streamed down her face as she sat in the same spot where her boyfriend had dropped her before he walked towards the bedroom as her hand gently touched her jaw that anger had been inflicted upon. Sobs escaped her lips as she didn’t want to be in this house anymore in fear that she might not ever make it out alive which was why she pushed herself off of the carpeted floor and left as discreetly as possible as to not tip off her boyfriend of her sneaking out and began her way towards the one person who she needed the most. Her vision was blurry from the tears that continued pouring from her hazel hues, but she pushed on until she approached the familiar door where her best friend resided. Baylen made her way up the few steps and knocked on the door loudly before hugging her chest as she hoped that he was actually home and didn’t have plans that caused him to be gone.
