I wondered recently how many other folks on simblr are as particular as I am about the color schemes of their sims/OCs, and wishing there was some kinda tag game/challenge for color schemes for sims...then I realized hey just make that shit yourself. So fuck it - I am, in fact, gonna try and do that (as teeny as I am so we’ll see how successful that is rofl).
COLOR THEORY IS MY PASSION TAG GAME
✮ Pick existing OC(s) that you always have a consistent color scheme for. ✮ Take a screen (or a few! or a lot as many as you want tbh) of them in those colors. ✮ Optional [PART 1]: be a nerd and talk about your reasoning behind their specific palette if there is one. If you’re doing multiple and their reasoning is linked, absolutely be even nerdier about that (see: my own characters I’m using for this starter, who were my initial inspiration for this). ✮ Optional [PART 2]: color theory memes.
And here to kick it off we have:
Amie's used to be a more desaturated red/more pink-ish red, but I ultimately went for the full force red/black simply because she's supposed to evoke the vampire cliche. Also my god, does she look good in red because of her hair. Her two boys, meanwhile, I put more thought into based on their relationship to their mother. Vanya's blue is a good contrast to Amie's red, and whereas Amie usually has silver accents in her jewelry/fasteners, Vanya's excess use of gold is both a contrast to Amie and to show he's more concerned about ostentatiousness. He also has bits of red in his wardrobe to also show the inescapable tie to his mother at the same time. Rilvim didn't have a set-in-stone color scheme until I'd made his XIV version, at which point I realized the green was PERFECT for him (male viera starting armor has forest-y green accents). Not only does green just...not go well with red in most circumstances (unless you want to look like an ugly christmas sweater), it does compliment blue just fine. And even though the brother are assholes to each other, they are very close.
Yes, I'm aware I'm a nerd and I'm not sorry. Yes I'm going to tag a metric shitload of people - as always if you want to ignore me no one's ever obligated to do things like these, but anyone who'd like to give this a go, please go for it and be color nerds with me 💖
