It was another slow afternoon at the coffee shop. Slow enough that Mattie had plenty of time to once again work on paperwork. The young blonde sat in the lobby among the customers, hoping the setting would be more motivating than her back office. Yet no matter where she sat, paperwork was a tedious and painful task. If there was any opportunity she saw for a break, she jumped right on it.
When she noticed one of her employees walking past, Mattie subconsciously looked up for a temporary break. Seeing Alison made her sigh with relief. She needed to talk to the girl, so the paperwork can thankfully wait. “Hey, Alison, you’re not busy, are you?” she asked. She folded up her notebook and pushed the papers to the side. “I don’t think I asked you yet, but when does school start up again? Or, wait... did it start up already? Honestly I don't remember what day it is anymore.”
