He was shaking all over, clothes half shredded from a set of claws. Self inflicted. He’s covered in blood and most of it isn’t his own. He could still hear Clint’s screaming ringing in his ears. He couldn’t even remember why he’d done it or how he’d even ended up at the Barton house in the first place. All he knew was that there was blood beneath his nails, there was blood everywhere. He could taste it in his mouth and it made him feel sick to his stomach.
Hundreds of images flash through his head, a sharp pain in his skull growing with every one of them. His mother, a little brother who’s alternate form grew bigger and bigger by the day, a little sister who never joined in on his and Jorgi’s fights. Mom. The boy wails, the first sound he’s made since he’d shifted back to his human self. All he wants is his mother. He doesn’t even know if she exists on this plane or if she really is gone for good.
Fen continues to scream and wail, is still doing so when Roy finds him. He doesn’t even know she’s there at first. When he does realize it, panic floods his system. “No!” He can’t even see her through tear blurred vision as he scrambles back, ignoring how every time something touched his skin it felt like another flame was added to the burning feeling of his hide.
“Stay away from me! Before I hurt you too!” This time it wasn’t a threat, nor a promise. It was a terrifying self-made prophecy. He couldn’t trust himself anymore, couldn’t trust his own body or his own brain. He didn’t even know who he was anymore, inside or out.
