I owe you a debt, he doesn’t say -- he isn’t a mage, but really, beyond what happened to him -- did you have to be one to sympathize with them? The templars in the prison they’d sent him too many not have been great in number, but they treated him ... well, he can’t imagine how they treated the mages. All he had were irritating fade dreams.
