ben for the most part had kept to himself. he didnt talk much to his neighbors and threw himself mostly in his work to have any real relations. most people just thought he was some grump man who lived in the house on the corner. though as much as he liked to keep that image he knew it that sometimes he needed to step out of his bubble for his own benefit. he had just got in from work and parked the car when he saw the girl next door seem to struggle. her hands were full with her child and trying to get the groceries all at once. he couldnt help but laugh a little to himself at her determination to make it all in one trip.
as he stuffed his keys into his pocket he took a few steps over the yard line and to her driveway. “as much as you seem confident that you can get it all, how about you let me help?” the man asked her offering his hands out to grab some groceries. he had seen her a few times, waved at her and her child here and there in passing but really never spoken to either of them.
