her hands held a pamphlet for the city’s museum--her new and cherished job. a small smile peaked beneath a usually indifferent gaze myra usually carried around. as she took her slow stroll back to her cell--extending the walk as long as possible--she heard footsteps coming from the opposite direction. her finger began to fold up the paper in a certain form of anxiety. she’d be able to discretely remove the paper at a moments noticed if she was called upon by a mistress. it was while rounding the next corner that myra misjudged the other’s proximity. she was crashing into the other, dropping the pamphlet in the process. “I’m so sorry--please forgive--” it was the image before her becoming clearer. she blinks. initially there is a warmth that overcomes her body, then a rush of chills that marks her skin with small goosebumps. “a distraction?” it was the only words she could form and they were laced with a sharp edge. it was as if the past forty years had been only 24 hours. “don’t tell me the coven found the distraction of whoring around better than one stupid girl.” she was forgetting her place here.
