HISTORY

Skyla Reine was 1.5 years old when her father died and growing up without him had always left a scar that she could never truly explain to anyone. It left her feeling like a piece of her was missing and she knew there was never going to be a way to find that piece.

When Skyla was 3 her mother remarried.

By the time the blonde was 12, her mother and new step-father, whom she had never truly formed a connection with had given birth to two boys, Judah and Zachary

It wouldn’t be too long after the birth of her brother, Judah, that her step-dad began drinking excessively and began to beat on her mother. As a child herself there wasn’t much she could do to stop him and this only furthered the growing aggression and anger that was already building within her, the aggression of an untriggered wolf beginning to boil up as she began to come of age.

At 12, Skyla finally found her voice and began to defend her mother against her step-dad and even more so when she discovered that her mother was once more pregnant.

This led to her step-father turning his beatings onto Skyla and eventually her brothers until one day, just a few weeks after her 14th birthday, Skyla snapped and killed her stepfather, triggering her wolf gene which ultimately led to her attending the Salvatore Boarding School where she would meet none other than Hope Mikaelson.

Though she had been arrested for the murder, she was released due to the ample amounts of evidence that pointed towards both domestic and childhood abuse but found herself on the outs with her mother. Her brothers were the only reasons she ever returned home during the summers and breaks.

Her only childhood escape were the moments she had outside of her home with her best friends.

Oliver’s return from the dead had been a shocking revelation leaving a wake of devastation around Sky who struggled to work through the mix of emotions she was going through until her mother eventually packed her brother’s up and left town without a word, leaving Skyla to find out when she returned home from a day of work to any empty house just before the dome had come down.

“Yeah?” Casper mused playfully, before proceeding to taunt “try telling your face that.” The hyrbid willingly leaned into the she wolf’s frame, sighing out of contentment as he crouched down slightly so that Sky had easier access, before feigning a groan as her fist collided with his shoulder “it’s not all I want. But it’s definitely up there as one of the things.” 

“Shut up asshole,” Skyla taunts, playful smile against her lips as she shakes her head. “I am thrilled that you’re home. I’ve missed you so much.” Soft laughter falls from her lips as he feigns pain, blue hues rolling at his words. “Oh just shut up and kiss me all ready, you giant doofus,” the blonde states with a laugh.

Skyla’s pleads caused for Oliver’s stomach to twist and he felt a sense of dread settle deep within his bones. He couldn’t stand the idea of her seeing him like this, much less having to watch him die all over again. “It’s alright” he assured hoarsely, forcing himself to lift his hand to meet hers as their digits interlocked “look at you, goddamn, ain’t a baby no more, huh?” His voice trembled, despite him willing it not to and for the first time since having returned, he genuinely felt frightened. “I’m sorry, kid. I’m so sorry. I need you to know that.” Oliver’s free hand reached for Sky’s cheek and his movements were unsteady as his steel blue hues found his daughters mirroring own, “I never meant to leave you, darlin’.” 

Grip tightens as Oliver’s hand settles against her own, digits folding together as she tears her gaze away from his features, blonde locks falling to mask her features as tears roll down her cheeks, soft smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “19 now,” Skyla admits, gaze returning as the male’s hand rose to her features, trying to will the tears away as she leaned into her father’s touch against her cheek. “I know, dad,” the she-wolf urges. “I know you are and that didn’t mean to. I’m- I missed you so much.”

“Oh, is that what you’re hoping for?”  Hope looked down for a moment and then back up, a bright smile on her face that was entirely too big to be genuine.  “OMG, Skyla, it’s so good to see you, let’s go get mani pedis and…fuck, whatever I’m supposed to be interested in.”  The smile slipped.  “Your dad?”

A genuinely amused grin pulled across the blonde’s lips, chuckle following as Hope feigns genuine joy in seeing her. “Gross, please don’t do that ever again,” Skyla teases the tribrid before a solemn look forms. “Yeah... He was... In pretty bad shape, Hope. I’m terrified. I don’t know why he’s here or how long he’s here. I lost him as a baby, never got to know him. I’m scared of getting to know him only to lose him all over again.”

“One can only hope that you’d fake it upon seeing one of your closest friends,” Skyla retorts, shrugging slightly as she plops herself into the nearby chair. “My dad is one of them.”

A soft smirked tugged at the corners of Casper’s lips and his head tilted as he assessed the blonde before taunting, “no need to sound so happy about it.” He made quick work of enclosing their distance, before setting his duffel bag down beside his foot, “so we gonna make out or what?” 

Soft laughter falls from blonde’s lips as she gives the male a roll of her eye, head shaking in the process. “I am happy about it,” Skyla counters, arms moving to wrap around his neck. “I’ve missed you.” Another eye roll is earned as a playful grin tugs across her lips, pulling back as she slams her fist lightly against his shoulder. “That all you want from me, huh,” blonde questions, teasingly as a brow rises playfully. “I see how it is.”

Oliver’s frame writhed within his discomfort, feeling as though he was reliving his final moments all over again as the pressure within his frame built to an unimaginable degree. It was as if he was imprisoned within his own weakened body, or he was until he heard the soft voice pleading with him to wake up. With a gasp and a damp splutter, the wolf eventually came to and his steel blue hues revealed themselves, the color heightened by the blood that seeped from his tear ducts. “Skyla” he whispered disjointedly and it was the only explanation for somebody to be calling him dad. 

“Please don’t leave me again,” Skyla pleaded softly, voice breaking at the sight of her father, the blood that seeps from his matching cerulean hues striking fear through her frame. “It’s me, daddy, it’s Sky,” she assured him, digits moving to grasp tightly around his own hand. “You’re okay, I promise, you’re okay. I can- I can take you to Hope. She can help you. You just have to get up.”

“You know what the worst part of these is?” Hope gestured to the witch who was currently pinned to the inner compound wall and frantically begging for his life.  “The smell.  You’d think with everything magic can do we could get rid of the smell of them soiling themselves.  Hey!” she shouted at one of the servants rushing by.  “What in the blue hell are you doing?  No one ordered Lilies for the coronation, where did those even come from?”

She stammered helplessly, and Hope rolled her eyes.  “Take them back to the shop and quit your blubbering.”  Without even turning back to the witch, she raised a hand and twisted - the sound of a snapping neck filled the room followed by a sigh.  “And then dispose of that.”  Another set of footfalls reached her ears and she looked up.  “Who invited company?”

“Well don’t sound so happy to see me,” Skyla states jokingly as she entered the room, topaz hues falling on the tribrid before a grin pulled across her lips. “I invited myself. Thought you’d want to know that we have dead people roaming the streets.”

Casper had returned frequently to New Orleans when he was attending college, mainly to see Sky or to irritate his sister, but the constant travel back and forth wouldn’t pose a problem any longer, seeing as he’d managed to get his ass kicked out of school. Again. Ever since stepping foot in the City again though, he’d noticed an eerie shift in its livelihood. 

He was making his way through the quarter as usual, with his duffel bag thrown over his shoulder as he groaned beneath his breath “I miss the apocalypse or something?” 

The hybrid continued to head down the familiar streets, taken aback by the lack of presence other than those of Hope’s guard, of whom most he had grown up with. 

“Starting to feel like clicker bait right now. Where the hell is everyone?”

The familiar voice pulled the blonde’s attention from mid-conversation with a fellow guard, cerulean hues landing on the male as a smile swept across her features as she began to move away from the others, gravitating towards him. “Cas, you’re home early,” Skyla greeted. “I didn’t think you’d be back for a couple of weeks.”

Oliver’s time at peace had been exactly that and he may have been undeserving of it, but he’d been granted a second chance. That was something that he would be eternally grateful for. For the first time in a long time, he’d been happy and then somehow, in the blink of an eye, that happiness had been torn away from him.

He had known it from the moment that he had awoken, that he was no longer at peace, no longer with the son he had lost and the woman he loved and the rage and the despair that accompanied that seemed unbearable. 

That wasn’t the only thing wrong with this newfound life, however. Oliver had died by the hands of a hex and now that he was back amongst the living, the effects of that very same hex had been reawoken. Without even knowing it, he’d been marked him this entire time and the evil that feasted upon his corpse had been waiting for this moment. 

The wolf felt feverish and before he could even gather his bearings, he’d gasped for breath and doubled over as a heave of blood spluttered from his throat “Jor -” Was all he could manage before collapsing to the ground with a thud. 

There was no mistaking the man as blue hues fell on him, tears instantly forming as she stood frozen in her steps. There was no way that this was real, no way that he was stood mere feet from her before he doubled over and blood spilled from his lips just before collapsing on the ground and Skyla’s frame immediately shot forward, falling to her knees beside him. “Dad,” the blonde called frantically. “Dad, are you okay? Wake up. You have to wake up.”

Oliver’s expression softened as Skyla’s composure began to slip and the she wolf revealed the real reason behind her reluctance. “Sky” he sighed, steadily beginning to enclose their distance as his hand reached for his daughters shoulder, “that’s what you’re worried about?” His brow furrowed slightly, before pulling the blonde into his embrace “I’m not goin’ anywhere, kid. I already told you, you ain’t gettin’ rid of me that easily, not again.” 

“No,” Skyla retorted, hands rising to shove her father backwards as he pulled her in to an embrace. “You don’t get to do that. You don’t get to get mad at me when I don’t want to leave you to deal with this shit alone and you definitely don’t get to make me feel stupid for being as scared as I am that I will love you again.” Tears welled in cerulean hues, a pair matching her father’s own as she shook her head, arms crossing over her chest in attempts of comforting herself. “What you say and what you do are two completely different things,” the blonde counters. “You do stuff like this then I’m going to continue to be scared and worried no matter what you say about not goin’ anywhere because you don’t know. You don’t, you can’t make that promise and if I can protect you than, damn it dad, I’m going to.”

Especially when it comes to wanting to protect his daughter.” Jordyn was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that Oliver had a child, mostly because thinking about it caused an ache in her chest for her own child. But she was happy that he had someone. “Come on. My treat.” she stated, cocking her head toward the door as she moved through the cabin. “I know it’s still early, but have any specialties caught your eye? I know it was trauma or bust for me.”

“He’s annoying,” Skyla huffs, ocean hues rolling before allowing a soft sigh to ease from her lips. Regardless of her current relationship with her dads former girlfriend and her son, Skyla was glad to have Jordyn around, a feminine touch being added to the home really made Skyla feel more at home. Blonde smiles softly as she heads for the door, shrugging slightly at the other’s question as a defeated sigh leaves her lips. “I’m torn,” she-wolf admits. “I really like neuro but trauma seems like such a blast. You get to do a little bit of everything and the constant hustle and bustle is just something that I’m used to, something that’s actually kind of calming for me, you know?”

       the roll that was tossed his direction caused maddox to laugh as it hit him square in the chest. ❝ well that was fucking rude. ❞ the male called out with a laugh – one that only increased when he saw her reaction to the fact that she knew of the girl he’d been seeing. ❝ fine – i’ll tell you, but only because i know you’ll just go to my mom about it if i don’t. ❞ with a roll of his eyes, maddox plopped himself down onto the bed and turned to face his best friend. ❝ her name’s josie. ❞

Joyous laughter rose, filling the air at his words as he plopped himself down beside her, rolling onto her side as she propped herself up on her elbow, head resting in the palm of her hand as she waited for him to tell her who it was he was seeing. A soft gasp left parted lips, smile pulling widely against her features as free hand rose to shove her best friends shoulder.” Shut the front door,” she mused. “Josie Saltzman? How adorable! Oh my god! Okay I am totally on board with this. Tell me all about it. How did you two meet? Have you actually asked her out yet? When did you two meet?”
