“Can you blame her?” The statement didn’t surprise Laurel at all. The baby was named after her mother which meant she had a special place in Laurel’s heart and she demanded more attention than Alice just because of her age. The girl had been through and lost so much and now the attention the teenager thought she deserved was being given to her half sister. Add in the number of siblings she now had and the only child was having to deal with a completely new way of life.
Laurel sighed as she glanced over at the baby. “Ray and I more than happy to take her more. I know Oliver and you have legal custody but she’s my daughter too. If you think it would be best for her to live with us I am more than happy to take her.” Except maybe that wasn’t the best idea either. It could end up like she was feeling unwanted because she was the only one not living with her father.
“Ray and I started talking about having one of our own. I don’t mind putting it off a few more months for Alice, but we do need to address this.” Because if she was jealous of Alice how was she going to feel when the mother who had given her up decides to have a new baby. They were just starting to get along.
