thinking about vex and her emotional journey from sweet broken vex'ahlia to champion of the dawnfather

like. saundor was a creep but his words haunted her for ages after this! she had just seen syldor, and she was just coming to terms with her feelings for percy, and even vax didn't quite understand her need for their father's approval, and now she had this title in whitestone but didn't know what to do with it

and now she is so confident and fights for the chance to be pelor's champion! she wants to commit to staying in whitestone and building faith in pelor and a life for herself

plus, consider the parallels of "stay with me and i will fix you" vs "fight for me and i will give you the power to accomplish your goals" coming from 2 powerful beings at important points in her life. one is obviously terrible and trying to shame her into believing her life is worth leaving, while the other is giving her the chance to expand her abilities and enhance her life as it already is.

vex is the mistress of the grey hunt! champion of the dawnfather! lady of whitestone! all things she may have once wanted only to fit in in syngorn, but now are titles that don't define her but rather add to who she already is. an icon.

Currently rewatching C1E104 because I’m obsessed with the gods now, and in light of Downfall all of the stuff VM is saying to defend Vex hits so much harder

Like I think Pelor would’ve been pretty close to sold when Scanlan said “she does bad things but it’s to protect her family”, and then Pike doubled down with “she’s family, and if you hurt her I’ll fuck you up”

They are family, they protect each other, and with the context of Downfall we know that is what Pelor values

Of course he would see hope in them. of course he would believe in them, and believe in their ability to save the world. They are what he once tried to be.

So much happened this episode but the only part that really matters to me is Pike legitimately threatened a God!
