Went back to my Nein Again rewatch (WOEFULLY behind) and I am so amused by Fjord's advice to Beau being 'be genuine when you apologise, sincerity helps. I say this as your friend, you are too sarcastic' and then Yasha's advice to Caleb being 'maybe you should try being normal. respond when someone talks to you... let me shave you with my greatsword. we are friends now'

Also the implication that Yasha gave Molly a bikini line shave. Besties activities I guess

(13) The Kiri sound board was such a useful idea from Jester. The three things everyone needs to say: your name, how sweet you are, and "Go fuck yourself" what more could you want

(19) I love that Beau actively sought out Fjord for help with people stuff and apologizing to Caleb. Also shows how much she has come to value Caleb and his friendship because otherwise she wouldn't care if she was an asshole to him. I just love the top table dynamics so much

(39) The sheer difference between Fjord giving advice and Yasha giving advice is hilarious. Also Caleb approaches the situation with different goals, Beau just wants advice and trusts Fjord to give it, while for Caleb the performance of asking for advice is as much the goal as the advice itself. Especially with the "We are friends now, ja?" he is actively trying to convince the big scary lady that he's worth protecting. It is a subtle manipulation but it's manipulation all the same (and also the shaving scene is phenomenal)

(1:24) so much respect for Sam choosing to stay out of the fight for character reasons. It's counterintuitive but so juicy and interesting

(1:53) Credit where credit is due: Molly was actually useful in this fight (Though part of that is due Caleb's haste)

(2:40) Oo the first hint that Artagon has other followers

(2:45) The pile of icons is an interesting way to get the group to discuss/reveal their religious affiliations. Tbh I forget that Molly vaguely followed the Moonweaver cause it has so little impact on the story. I'm curious if Taliesin had plans to do something more with it later or if it was only ever intended to be minor flavor

(2:59) God it's so crazy that Fjord actually just shoved the cloven crystal into his chest. Like imagine watching that happen. And the fact that Caleb identified the sword first instead of the crystal (and also that Fjord jumped the gun) means that they don't get to learn about what it is here. I wonder how differently things would have played out if they had been able to identify it here (or if Matt would have even given them any info)

(3:04) Jester: "Maybe there's more than one?" Well she got that one right

(3:20) I think one of the reasons I love the empire siblings so much is that they really had to work for it. They both put a lot of intentional effort into trusting each other and building their relationship - as we see from Beau's really awkward (but heartfelt!) apology

Nein Again music for episode 22: Lost Treasures under the cut! Only a handful of songs this week. Much of the players' time spent in the caverns had ambient music that I couldn't place.

During the announcements, Matt had some instrumental music playing in the background from Witcher III DLC: Blood and Wine. I'm not 100% sure of the track, but the song shared motifs with the Beauclair at Night exploration track. The song also continued through Matt's recap.

After a long break of ambient music, Matt plays Battle 1 from World of Warcraft classic (timestamped below) at about 1:02:40. The link includes several other similar songs from that set, which can be seen if you turn the captions on.

During one of Caleb's turns, For a Higher Cause from Witcher 2 kicks up around 1:22:15. It's recognizable by the chorus followed by some heavy metal.

At about 1:30:50, Welcome, Imlerith from Witcher III begins while one of the marrows bites into Molly.

At 1:38:33, we switch back to Witcher 2 for The Wild Hunt (a heavy metal song).

At about 2:07:35, Matt plays The Hunt is Coming. It begins around the time the merrow priest does a thunderwave.

At about 2:20:30, Tedd Deireadh, the Final Age plays as Jester and Yasha get a HDYWTDT thogether. It shares some motifs with Welcome, Imlerith and The Hunt is Coming.

That's all for this week! Matt used a different playlist than he had for more recent combats. I wonder if he'll use this set for Uk'otoa-related enemies...
