Nein Again, C2E4: "Disparate Pieces"
there's so much about beau's first interaction with dairon that I had forgotten. like she's labelled as a problem student by zeenoth but god the MOMENT someone comes in and takes her seriously and like. respects her and gives her energy right back to her she INSTANTLY switches to being excited to learn and having a lot of respect for her mentor. idk it just is really important to her character. also fuck zeenoth

Liam: [annoyed that people make jokes of caleb being dirty all the time]
Also, Caleb:
many many weeks behind with nein again, but I have continued listening to early M9 as a way to motivate me to get to work in the colder mornings, and. 1 nothing will ever top Nott rolling a check and going “zero!”, I love her and her negative charisma modifier. 2 it is easy to forget just how much of a showman even early campaign Caleb can be when trying to sway people, the entire Kylrie arc has him making grandiose statements and giving a very impassioned defence at Norda (and invoking Occam’s razor lol) and his persuasion checks did uh. not back him up at all (but I love him for it). 3. I *always* forget how early Zeenoth showed up.
anyway I’m really enjoying it and it’s all that’s getting me through my commute atm.
yasha: i thought you were nott, the brave?
nott: no, there's no comma. i'm just nott the brave
Caleb, to Toya: “Sometimes people we know can turn out to be… something else.”
Me, listening while doing something else, suddenly remembering Caleb’s lore: *slowly turns my head with wide eyes*
Just a small DM-Moment, but I REALLY like how when Caleb is trying to manipulate Toya a bit in the boat/ensure her cooperation and Liam has to roll Persuasion and rolls like dogshit (RIP that 6™ XD), instead of taking an easier route of having Toya merely dismiss his words (ofc there are times and places for a players words to genuinely be ineffective!! But it can feel bad if you're trying real hard/speaking with alot of thought and you just roll real bad), Matt has it so that Toya is simply. . Very, very understandably distracted by the presence of the scary lady who choked her to unconsciousness just an hour or so earlier XD 😬 😂
Feels like such a good choice that opens up further roleplay (esp. since Beau/Marisha hadn't spoken up too much in the convo w/ Toya thus far), without discounting Liam's really good speech (unfortunately weighed down by that 6™ XD 😂)
