You know, I’m just gonna discuss for a moment how much of a loose canon Caleb actually is. Liam plays up his carefulness, but this dude’s got firebug syndrome, and he has absolutely reckless abandon when it comes to firing off spells that could potentially cause damage/death to bystanders. I feel like that hint of Caleb going absolutely NUTS after breaking (when he burned Astrid and Wolf and went feral after his first nervous breakdown) is still there, under the surface. This wizard is a hair breadth away from Losing It and I think the party is somewhat aware of that, but I don’t even know if Caleb is himself.
Beauregard and Cad spending time in the Astral Sea was cool - I almost wish they’d gotten to explore more, or see whatever that thing was? The large thing? It was implied to be a creature, but it was probably that city from the vision they all shared at the end.
On that note - a CITY?
Matthew Mercer clearly loves cities and clearly loves gargantuan horror - what’s not supposed to move? Cities. What’s cool if you MAKE it move? Cities. I’m sensing parallels between the two campaigns here.
But this is clearly something else. This is a living (?) city. A haunted city? What the fuck is making it move? Is it organic? Is it some sort of embodiment of something larger? I can’t wait to find out.
Anyway, now they can finally get their stuff back!
