WHAT AN EPISODE... AGAIN!! I'm kinda loving the cold-opens for each episode, then loving all the chaos that follows. So, time to rant:
1.COLD OPEN HEART ATTACKS- It took a bit for me to clock that this was a flashback, so I was panicking when Azune and Kattigan started throwing death saves. The second Brennan mentioned they were 'only level 1', I breathed a little better, but damn Kattigan was close to dying via flashback
2.AABRIA! YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER!- Mysterious magical object starts doing weird shit and Thaisha decides to touch it?!? Instantly dropped unconscious (thankfully into the arms of a loving Bard), causing me more panic. Bolaire's reaction was *chef's kiss*, did all the yelling I was thinking (love you aabria, now dont do that again)
3.LAURA FUCKING BAILEY DESERVES ALL THE AWARDS- Thimble's arrival and reaction to Thjazi had me crying all over again. And that interaction with Vaelus? Amazing. No other words needed, just love my CR ladies and their ability to play with my emotions
4.MARISHA AND TALIESIN ARE SO BACK!- The C1 Keyleth-Percy relationship (not the LOVM version) has always been one of my favorites, and watching Murray and Bolaire doing their investigations gave such similar vibes. Also, WTFIUWT portal in the box??? And Bolaire asked Brennan about the 'Black Box'?? WTFIUWT???
5.EVERYBODY WANTS OCCTIS- Julien is tasked with finding him, Occtis's parents are hunting for him, meanwhile the guy is about to open the next episode in combat with Thimble and Kattigan against a theives guild. I vote we all protect the little necromancer and his adorable fox at all costs
6.WICK... RUN! JUST RUN!- The biggest drop of the night was one I was expecting yet not expecting. Lets face it, we all knew Sam playing a cleric was 1000% a lie, but the reveal?! Was not expecting them to have a literal angel chained up in the basement and THAT ANGEL IS HIS GRANDFATHER!!!!!!! WTFIUWT?! And of course Tyranny knows the truth and has been kind of protecting Wick from it. My guess is Sam is really an Aasimar Divine Soul Sorcerer or some homebrew Warlock class (anything is possible with Perkins and Crawford on the team).
BONUS: C1 MINI-REFERENCES- Look, VM is and always will be my favorite campaign, so of course I'm gonna latch onto these. First, Bolaire talking about how he 'touched something he shouldn't have a long time ago'... yeah Percy, tell me about that coffin that killed Vex 😅. Next, Thimble is an expert at braiding like Vex with the braid in her hair 🩵 I already mentioned the next one, the keyleth-percy energy revival that is murray and bolaire. Finally, Sam described his home as being constructed of 'White Stone', causing himself and Travis to laugh, then corrected it to 'off-white' 🤣
Alright, that's what I got this morning. Anyone else have any good thoughts/theories?!
