Sunrise. Dawn bringing forth subtle rays of light over woodland area, the cooing of birds chirping from tree to tree. A man with muscular build stands atop a makeshift podium for several moments, squinting eyes to hone in on several individuals arriving from a distance. Fingertips grasp along loose wiring attached to bulky machinery, double checking to make sure that his maneuvering gear’s functions were responding to touch. A deep inhale, closing eyes temporarily as he waited for his team to catch up.

Thankfully, he’d been to District Lambda numerous times before. Auburn happened to be a relatively docile sector in comparison to the haphazard unpredictability of their corresponding locations. To say the least, Levi was fairly confident he would be able to lead a successful expedition, no matter the strengths or weaknesses that may come with his squad.

As his squad caught up to his locale, several shirts with the emboldened Survey Corps’ logo was distributed to each, as well as a horse to accompany them.

“ Rise and shine. Keep track of these jackets even if you choose not to wear them immediately. The residents of District Lambda will recognize and respect the legion’s emblem in case we need to extract information from them. ”

Several footsteps taken forward, looking back at his allies before proceeding forward. Viridescent cape breezing in the wind, loose cravat shaking beneath the man’s neck. A small clicking of the tongue, hopping upon his steed before stating.

“ Our first stop is the Auburn Villa, about 10 miles north from our current location. There are reports of an abandoned laboratory found by a group of villagers nearby. Investigating this lead is our main objective for the time being. Understood? ”

Whitened stones intermingle with the outer streets of the third sector, piecing together what seemed to be another passage to an unknown vicinity. Had none of them been informed, perchance it might have gone unnoticed by the most basic glance, only further noting that each step forward would connect the cobble street to something more grandeur than just a dead end. Fortunately so, for it is only by this direction that those of the team she is meant to lead are made to travel, the gleaming tower as if a beacon to guide them to where they are to explore.

Armour chimes atop the ground as she ceases walking, gauntlet digits poised at her sides in order to take action if necessary. Garbed in elaborate armour, it was ever so clear that she meant in earnest to assist her team to the best of her ability; to act as their loyal shield in crucial times to come.

Only upon hearing the last of her team arrive does she turn to face them, prying violaceous hues from the intricate designs that wait them deep within. There is a moment that passes, allowing the others to peruse where it is they are meant to investigate upon their own leisure, before addressing them so. ❝ We have arrived at the gates of our destination. I am certain you are all prepared for this time, and if not I bid you become so now. We are here to discover what is hidden within the city, whether it be knowledge or artifacts to return with, so it might be some time before we return, ❞ she utters, the words firm despite emanating confidence in those of her companions.

❝ From this moment forward, I will be your shield upon the battlefield. I give my word that I will safeguard you from all harm that I am able as to complete our mission safely. Upon your ready, we will press forward. ❞

our fair olympia // expedition team 2

The trip to the district known as Olympia was not one that could be made on foot. The land, housed in the sky, was only accessible by those with certain ranks under normal circumstance, but special arrangements had been made in this case. It was in the sky, so the only method of reaching it was by aircraft or, if one was lucky enough to possess them, their own wings.

While her wings were not her own, Wendy Marvell did possess a flying companion named Carla. Usually she’d fly with Carla as her wings, but in this case she had to board the plane with the others or else they wouldn’t be able to gain access to the district. Which should have been fine...

Except transportation made her sick in the worst way.

It wasn’t a lack of resolve or anything like that, but rather a condition caused by the type of magic she wielded. Dragon Slayers just couldn’t tolerate transportation, to the point where they were extremely sick riding it. All in all, probably not a great first impression for the others, whom were likely already doubting her leadership ability considering she was only fourteen.

It was a long hour.

Eventually, however, the plane landed. The squad disembarked, and her condition cleared up practically immediately. They’d landed in an unpopulated area of the floating isle, and yet technology was spread before them. In a way, it looked more like a city after being hit by an apocalypse. It was as if, at some point, everyone had just dropped everything they were doing and left. But as a Sky mage, she was sensitive to the clean air at this altitude. It was clean, yet... something seemed off about it.

But that’s what made it worthy to explore, even if the threat of monsters and bandits still lurked.

Twirling, the girl suddenly faced the group with her talking, flying cat, Carla, in her arms.

“Okay! I know we talked a little on the plane...” Well, she tried. “But maybe we should do introductions again? I’m Wendy Marvell, mage of Fairy Tail and leader of this group! As you all know, we’ll be searching for clues about the true nature of the city, as well as artifacts and resources for the city to use.”

“And I’m Carla. Though I’ll be spending most of the trip scouting ahead.”

Legend tells of the decaying remains of a once proud city that lies quietly on the ocean’s floor. No one knows how long it’s been there, or why, or how... Undoubtedly, this is the reason they were told to find and explore this underwater metropolis. There’s no telling what kinds of treasure lay in wait beneath the waves.

Deep greens swirl into cerulean whorls, captivating him with unthinkable ease. It’s been far too long since he’s been out at sea... the sweet scent of salt on the wind as the ocean encroaches and recedes, leaving a soft line of foam in its wake... What more could he want, save for a company that quickly approaches?

Muffled footsteps in the sand warn him of his waning privacy, though he doesn’t mind it in the end. What good is adventure without someone (or multiple someones, as the mission laid out) to share it with? In all his years, Sinbad has never truly been a solitary person.

“The way it ebbs and flows of its own accord... the emotion caught in each wave... it’s almost like a living thing, isn’t it? It won’t do us any good to underestimate it.” A smile as bright as the deepest blue brightens his face as he turns to the group that congregates on the beach. “But there’s no such thing as an adventure that didn’t provide a bit of danger - but I take you’re all prepared.”

The district in the air was one Lucina always found interesting. The elites had been impressed by her status and had invited her to come up and visit the floating utopia, but Lucina never found a chance to travel up there. Her duty on the ground and in the actual city kept her from exploring it fully, but the time for her to do so had finally came.

Stepping off the airship, the Exalt couldn’t help but look around in awe. They weren’t joking when they said this is where those who considered themselves elite lived. It showed too; the technology here was a lot more advanced than the city’s very own, and overall the scenery looked incredible. She doubt that crime happened here all the time.

It really was a perfect utopia, a rare one to visit and see. She’s heard some stories about it, but it all seemed like something out of a fairytale or a legend. Finally being here, it felt oddly exciting and amazing. However, she wasn’t really here to sightsee like some kind of tourist. No, her and her group had a bigger task to accomplish, and she didn’t want to disappoint Wendy or Levi by not finding anything.

Turning back to her group after admiring the scenery, she addressed the others with a serious tone, her posture straight and tall. Her position as a leader was hardly a new one, and she was a typical no nonsense type of person.

“This city may not seem dangerous, but we cannot let our guard down. We need to keep our eyes opened for anything that may be of interest.”

Despite her serious tone, a small smile appeared on the woman’s face. Even if she liked getting straight to the point, she wanted to make it known that she was someone who they could trust and befriend.

“I look forward to working with you all, if I may add. I’m sure we’ll make a great team.”

There’s something oddly fitting for a master of ice to lead an expedition in a zone primarily submerged in water. The reason for his appointment as squad leader is unknown, yet not at all unfamiliar to him. He was once a military man-- among the youngest to command his own squad within the Praetorian guard. That choice was most certainly not erroneous in that regard.

‘District Theta’ was what this zone was officially referred to, dubbed “Regia” by some force or another long before Jin’s time (before anyone’s, really). This was the district his group was assigned to explore. What purpose did this expedition serve-- well, he is uncertain as of yet. What was certain however was that a trip like this will certainly open new questions and answers up for him. Questions of which, pitifully so, he had been slacking off at uncovering.

He had bills to pay, after all.

Being so close to the waters provided the area with a distinct chill. He’s very much used to the cold. Prefers it, actually. His choice of attire provided a combination of maneuverable and warm, minimizing layers, moderating temperature management. He took a fondness over this coat, too.

All that was left was to await further instruction. Fortunately, the company of his squad mates was available.

“So this is ‘Regia’...” He spoke aloud. “I hope you’re all both physically and mentally prepared for what’ll happen next.”

EXPEDITION START INFORMATION

Apologies for the delay, but we finally have all of the initial expedition information ready below the cut! For the sake of the adventure, we’ve removed the limitations on entering Olympia provided the team leader is the appropriate rank.

Now, the group thread is mandatory. You need to do a team thread regardless. However, you may also branch out and do pair threads or drabbles in the setting since the expedition will span several days! The team thread should be started by the team leader, unless they don’t have the time right now, at which point the leader should contact another team member to do so.

So... goals! What are your characters looking for? Throughout the expedition, leaders will receive contact from other teams (via cellphone) regarding what they’ve seen and found, and what they should seek. Most of these communications will likely come from Wendy or Levi, and can range from searching ruins for clues about the scientists to dangerous monster hunts.

For now though, just have your team arrive in their designated area and get acquainted with one another! We’ll have more specific details in the next day or two!
