About a Cat

Under a streetlight sits a mewling cat.

He seems old -- I wonder what he is telling me?

Announcing territorial ambitions and claims, reciting the tale of cat history passed down from his mother, or the best way to catch birds and mice?

I listen, he talks -- sadly neither of us understands the other but here we are, both abroad at this late hour

Whiling away our last lives.

Saw my cat friend Raffie when I was coming out to do errands. He was hanging out under my car but I coaxed him out and we played for a little bit. He rubbed himself on me (and my purse), and I gave him ear scritches. He flopped over on his belly a bunch of times, but I did not give into temptation and attempt to pet the belly floof. (I got a scratch anyway though, so I tried to be REALLY careful after that. Maybe i moved too fast for him or something.)

 But I apologized and talked to him and he’s a very good listener. He has big green eyes that stare into my soul and a lovely purr <333333
