the name of the alphabet of tuareg, a nomadic people of Sahara desert, prone to extinction word found in Neagu Djuvara book of memories
This word was found by mistake and gives a new perspective of isolation. My sister lives in a French speaking country for some time. We were talking about the people dancing on a Dalida song in the streets of Paris for 2 minutes before police came to spread them. And she said "Uau. O luam razna in confinare", kind of "Oh, this confinare is making us go crazy". For the moment I said she must have Romanized a French word, confinement. But later, I looked and this word exists. confiner in French / confina in Romanian meaning: to isolate, but also to adjoin and share a limit with someone.
This word is a reminder that wealth and luxury will change in the future.
chrematistics (hrematistica in Romanian)
the study of wealth or a particular theory of wealth as measured in money
“Aristotel distinguished economics from chrematistics, the art of acquiring wealth.” Doughnut Economics, by Kate Raworth
These days of domestic isolation, we read & watch or listen, words everywhere are our friends. And it is such a joy to learn new words in any language.
This is the word project: I will draw the word, present the meaning and the source.
hubris (hybris in Romanian) meaning: excessive pride or self-confidence. source: “In our hubris we thought we knew.” the red hand files
