The Brady E. Himmelman is a 14-car cable ferry that crosses the LaHave River from LaHave to East LaHave. The trip lasts five minutes and costs $5,50 per car. A cable ferry has operated in LaHave since 1832.
This $3.5-million boat, launched July 29, 2010, was named to honour long-term ferry operator Brady Himmelman who was in charge of the ferry from 1948 until 1983. The ferry is one of four cable ferries in Nova Scotia, and is operated by Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.
