25. Who needs more assurance?
Slade. Every day he is amazed that Carter wants to be with him, especially after all that has happened. While he doesn’t voice it often, Carter can tell from the way he looks at her when he feels more insecure and she will kiss him.
26. What would be their theme song?
I have a full playlist but my top songs for them are sights by london grammar, cringe (stripped) by matt meason, wicked game by gemma hayes, and i found by amber fun.
27. Who would sing to their child back to sleep?
Carter. She has an entire mental library of lullabies and Disney songs to sing to her child. Her favorite is the lullaby she remembers Rebecca singing to her and Tommy when they were young.
28. What do they do when they’re away from each other?
Carter texts Slade funny/annoyed observations from her mayorial meetings.
29. one headcanon about this OTP that breaks your heart.
What I really love about their slow-burn dynamic is how they become inverse parallels. When the mirakuru is wearing off, when Slade is coming back to himself is right when Carter starts losing herself and heading down a dark arc. No one in Carter’s life is aware, except for Slade. He sees a similar kind of darkness in himself start to grow in her and he can’t do anything to help her. He stuck in the consequences of his own mistakes and can’t stop her from making similar mistakes.
30. one headcanon about this OTP that mends it.
They are finally able to be together only when they are on equal footing and in a similar situation. They are both in this individual redemption arc, trying to face what they have done, and they are able to turn to each other, to find a complete understanding, to help each other. Carter’s been waiting so long for someone to finally see her, all of her, the beauty and the darkness and love her for it, and Slade does. I just love these two a lot.
