Cade stared down at the postcard in his hand, the first correspondence he’d received from his parents in over a decade. It read,
‘dear cade, we hope you’re doing well. thank you for taking care of the home in our absence. we know it’s in good hands with you. the human realm is amazing! we’ve barely covered the surface. we probably won’t be home for a while yet, but we know you’ll be okay. you’ve always done so well on your own. affectionately, your parents’
Cade didn’t know what to think, or what to feel. He was still standing in front of the post office when Leif approached, not noticing him.
