He always catches her off guard in the most surprising of ways, ways that she didn’t think she was deserving of and she has to wonder just how lucky she was to have been taken in by someone as kind as him. It was just a quiet moment between a Sky and his Mist, working over some paperwork while the other guardians were out on the prowl. Her breath hitches and her eye waters a little as she rubs at it desperately, touched by his sentiment.

It was moments like these that made everything worth it. That reminded her that she was valued.

“I wouldn’t be, if it wasn’t for you and Mukuro-sama.” She looks at Tsuna with a soft, grateful smile. Mukuro may have taught her how to live again, but Tsuna was the one who showed her how to care again and to be cared for, She reaches over and squeezed his hand. “Thank you for accepting me, Boss.”

She will fight to protect that smile. Always.

Blooddripped down her lips, as her eyes sought the source of the voice through thehaze that clouded them. However, visual confirmation was not necessary, thegentle voice was enough to know who asked.

“Tsu-kun..I should have been more careful. Don’t search for them.”

Always hewould be worrying about the safety of his guardians and his close friends. Shewanted to help him shoulder the burden, not add more to it. Yet here she lay,bloodied and bruised.

“Please? I don’t want you to feel guilty or see you get hurt.”

Too many things rush to the forefront of her mind– to select a single compliment which embodies them all is a task nigh impossible, but if she endeavours to try, she supposes this one will suffice. “Boss is very accepting,” she decides. To give her a chance, to let in those shunned by others… some may consider it a weakness, yet all who know the Boss personally will agree it’s one of his finer traits.

consequences of the job; chrome & tsuna

The beads of perspiration which lined Chrome’s furrowed brows were irritating, but even if her hands were free she would not have dared to swipe at them - there were many variables of unknowns to be found in the lounge, and having an active duty on the floor meant that her fingers were in contact with surfaces rife with substances that she was not fool enough to assume would be safe to put anywhere near her face. 

With exposed brick, yellow lighting and solid speaker system, the bar/lounge was a place which at one point held promise to be something great, but lost its spark of vitality to bad management and sleazy clientèle. Honestly, part of Chrome was surprised that an establishment like it had been able to survive under the watchful gaze of Hibari, but if anything it served as fuel for Chrome’s inherent dislike of the place. 

The ability of the owners to  evade Hibari’s diligent watch only served to represent the cunning masterminds behind the establishment.

Fidgeting in her binds, Chrome could not help but to frown in distaste at the dank room she had been dumped in. It appeared to be a former cellar of some kind, for the scent of old wine hung in the musky air and old dusty crates lined the wall to one side. At present she was without both Vongola Ring and trident, having awoken with neither on her person.

Honestly, she shouldn’t be surprised that she had fallen victim to such a cliche plot. No one ever said that the mafia were creative, and it had been her fault for underestimating the intelligence of the patrons of the bar. 

Now, to see if she could possibly break these binds... and wonder who would come to her aid.

Haru Miura woke to golden rays of sunlight filtering into her bedroom, as she did every morning. But instead of the cheerful singing of the maids as they performed their duties or the jaunty clip-clop of hooves on cobblestone that normally greeted her return to the world, the castle was deathly silent. An aura of foreboding hung heavy in the air and permeated every silken surface of the suite she had resided in since birth.

Her refuge.

Her sanctuary.

But for how long? 

Even as she was bathed in the warmth of day, Haru could not shake off the feelings of despair that wrapped themselves around her like a serpent. Today was the day. The day she traded the familiar green and blue of Namimori’s rolling pastures for the snowy peaks of Vongola. The day she signed away her life to a man she had never met and adopted the title “queen” of a land she knew only by stories and rumors. 

Haru would be fooling herself if she said she was happy about her situation. She was a princess and marriage was her duty. Personal happiness could never overshadow the protection of her kingdom. Her prince, her husband-to-be, surely knew that as well, had it ingrained in him since birth so that it was no longer a lesson but a dogma that echoed in every step she took and word she spoke. 

Think of your country

They were right. She was but a pawn in the overall scheme of things and her next move would be to unite the kingdoms of Namimori and Vongola against the growing threat of Millefiore. She shouldn’t think, leave that to the higher-ups, and only do. 

Be a good girl and do as you’re told, princess. 

She stood up and began to dress.
