The Battle for Gaul by Julius Caesar --Books That Indulge My Life-Long Love for Ancient Rome and for Julius Caesar Fostered by Asterix Comics I read Caesar’s commentaries some years back and adored them, other than the fact that the edition took it out of the third person. You hear references to that third person narration for years and then it’s just NOT THERE?! This is a lovely edition, full of maps, pictures, diagrams, all the bells and whistles. Bought at the local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. They had boxes of books suddenly, all obviously from the same person who had presumably died or had to let go of his collection. Well, me and that old guy would have really got along. There were so many of my non-fiction favorites in there, from a huge range of topics.
