Cafe Mak
This comfortable café is located in the midst of Koreatown. You may ask yourself why I finally crept beyond the 405 away from by Westside loyalties. It’s Janie’s fault. She got herself into USC and I couldn’t let another week of school go by without trying to help her discover a secret study spot.
Good news or bad news first?
Always bad news.
Well….Cafe Mak’s overpriced, definitely uber overpriced. I paid around $6 for a Korean Style Coffee- a cold coffee with cream and sugar already blended poured over crushed ice. Also, a lot of people will recommend the Sweet Potato Cake, however, unimpressed. It doesn’t really taste like anything. Overall, steer clear of the food.
That being said, the Korean Style Coffee was refreshing on a hot day, not too sweet and as the ice melts still drinkable. This place has a labyrinth of rooms so there’s no doubt you’ll be able to find a place to sit. When you do sit down its soooo comfortable. All of the seats are cushioned plus extra pillows with plenty of outlets near by and Wifi (although spotty, it works!). There’s even this little buzzer on the table that you can ring when you need service. It’s the ultimate studying spot.
Buller…Buller,
Coffee Nerd
