Sanha’s careless mistake led to an interesting encounter. cafeverse
occasionally, I might write extra parts for certain shorts/fics that I originally didn’t plan on writing, such as a retelling from another point of view or a brief backstory/epilogue. these will be posted separately as bonus fics, with the name of the parent fic attached!
“Excuse me, but….” Sanha felt a light tap on his back.
It was a boy, probably no older than he was. He had black hair, sharp features with a touch of youthfulness, and silver earrings that sparkled in the afternoon sunlight. He was shorter than Sanha, but not by a lot, and he was holding something out with both hands. Cute, he thought.
“You dropped this earlier today.” Looking down, Sanha saw it - his prized missing ID that he lamented over with Daehwi during lunch. Sanha gasped.
“Oh, thank you so much!” He grinned, taking the ID and clutching it to his chest. That was a good amount of money saved. His mom won’t be pissed. “How did you find it?”
The boy with earrings motioned to the store behind him. “I work here. I saw you drop it this morning at the bus stop.” Sanha only then noticed the apron the boy was wearing, and the shirt that had “THE BOYZ” printed onto the left side of the chest. Looking into the store, he read the big letters on the sign hanging on the back wall:
THE BOYZ: Flower Snack.
Oh.
“Ah…Flower Snack….” Sanha nodded. The new store that had just moved in on the street, conveniently-not-so-conveniently right across the street from D.Store. No, Sanha wasn’t angry or anything - he was more curious about the bright interior and the interesting employees inside, and how they made their cotton candy so round and fluffy. And just a little bit worried for the future of D.Store.
Snapping back to reality, he bowed again.
“Thank you so much for finding my ID! You saved me twenty-five thousand won. I really owe you.” Sanha thanked him again. Was that awkward?
“It’s no problem, really.” The shorter boy bowed back, earrings twinkling in the light. Checking his watch, Sanha suddenly remembered: the bus was already late, and he needed to start his shift.
“Ah, I have to go now. Thanks so much!” Sanha turned hurriedly to cross the street, before letting the other boy respond. Once safely across the street and opening the door to the D.Store, he checked back behind his shoulder. The boy with earrings was still standing there, sharp eyes watching him the whole time. And suddenly, Sanha was hit with the horrible realization that he hadn’t even asked the kid for his name.
