Sunday we got coffee from our amazing snobby coffee place across the road (where the people are actually lovely). We found some cool street art by Leo Lunatic - who likes Pandas. While walking down Istiklal Cad we came across a protest about a Turkish Journalist that is caught in Syria. We couldn’t really read the placards, there were riot police with AK47’s and a water pump gun, and a little yelling. It was all a bit interesting as the protest walked the same way we did to get lunch. Protesting isn’t mentioned in the guidebook and it’s not much fun if you don’t understand the cause - we give it 2 out of 5 stars. After all that meaningful protesting aka finding and eating lunch we got a Turkish coffee at a cute little side alley cafe. Not grasping how strong Turkish coffee normally is, and a slight language barrier, we both ordered double espressos - we should now be awake for the remainder of our time in Istanbul.
