Sometimes you need a drink that's not coffee, not alcohol, indulgent but good for you. Something to fix that hot chocolate craving without the calories. That is why I love @criobru . It is ground cocoa beans that come in many varieties (Ghana light roast is my favorite so far but I haven't tried them all - I'm testing Double chocolate light roast next!) The beverage brews much like coffee, except you can't use a paper coffee filter and you'll probably want a coffee maker with a rich brew function. You can also use a French press. The smell and flavor of the brewed cocoa are out of this world. The result is a slightly oily drink (I'm guessing cocoa butter?) with 10 calories per serving and loads of health-beneficial nutrients. It is caffeine-free (but energizing, the label claims), #keto and #paleo. I also love that the brand is committed to sustainable and fair farming practices. The only downside is it can be harsh on an empty stomach, for that I give it 4 stars. I challenge you to give this different, delicious and healthy beverage a try and let me know what you think! 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #cocoa #caffeinealternative #caffeinefreeenergy #caffeinefree #nocaffeine #nocoffeechallenge #ketobeverages #ketodrinks #hotdrink #unfilteredhonestreviews #momreviews #productreviews https://www.instagram.com/p/CZzh-SzFMLn/?utm_medium=tumblr
The goji berry is a small red fruit native to the Himalayan foothills and has been a part of traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. Hailed for its antioxidant qualities and ample amounts of iron, fiber, and calcium, this super-fruit has the ability to calm the mind and boost the immune system. Gojis have a sweet-tart taste and are most often eaten in dried form or when juiced.
However, former food writer Jen Low whipped up with a new way to use the goji, one that brings out its natural flavor while reaping all the health benefits. In 2013, she introduced Gojiccino, a liquid concentrated beverage that can be used as a caffeine-free substitute for espressos and lattes.
Fine Frappés
Contrary to its fruity base ingredient, Gojiccino doesn't taste at all like berries. It's more like a toasty mix of mocha and caramel. You can use it as an espresso shot right out of the bottle or mix it with warm soy milk for a latte-like beverage. But with the spring and summer months ahead, why not do as I do and blend it up into a refreshing frappé? Just spoon about 3 tablespoons Gojiccino into 8oz of Organic Avenue Cashew Hemp Mylk. Stir well (or better yet, mix in a blender). Pour over ice. Amazing! You'll never crave the caffeinated version again! And not only is Gojiccino is non-GMO, has no added sugar, low in sodium, and gluten free, but at only 35 calories per serving, you can indulge without guilt.
